The Harrison House Mission

The Mission of the Harrison House organization is to preserve and promote African American Culture, and social and economic development in the Ward 5 District.

Harrison House Inc., was founded March of 2001, and is a charitable organization dedicated to the preservation and sharing of African American history in Las Vegas, and the promotion of neighborhood improvement programs for economic development. It will be used as a safe haven for America's great veterans.

The Harrison House officers are:
President - Stanton Wilkerson
Treasurer - Joe Cooper
Secretary - David Sharp

History of Harrison House

The Harrison House was constructed in 1942. It was a boarding home for African American entertainers during the days of segregation. Notable entertainers who stayed there are Sammy Davis Jr. and Pearl Bailey. Today the Harrison House is being renovated as a green model demonstration home and center for community outreach.
